A Life Skills group commenced on 08 April 2026 at Cavalleria Primary School with a group of Grade 5 learners. The purpose of the group was to provide learners with guidance, support, and practical skills to assist in their personal and social development.
Throughout the sessions, various important topics were discussed. Learners participated in discussions and activities relating to bullying, where they explored the effects of bullying and ways to treat others with kindness and respect. The group also focused on good and bad behaviour, helping learners identify acceptable behaviour and understand the consequences of negative actions.
Sessions on emotions allowed learners to identify and express different feelings while learning healthy ways to manage their emotions. Hygiene was discussed to promote personal cleanliness and healthy habits. The topic “Who Am I?” encouraged learners to explore their identity, strengths, and individuality, while discussions on good and bad choices helped learners understand decision-making and the impact their choices may have on themselves and others.
The learners actively participated throughout the programme and were encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. The sessions aimed to strengthen self-awareness, positive behaviour, emotional understanding, and responsible decision-making.
Today marked the conclusion of the Life Skills group, and it was evident that the learners gained a deeper understanding of their personal and social development. They showed growth in their awareness of emotions, behaviour, choices, and interpersonal relationships, and demonstrated a positive understanding of the topics discussed throughout the programme.
